Blue Ridge Lumber Company LLC. purchased the Covington Mill and Log Yard in Callahan, Virginia in the winter of 2007 from the Bradley family. The Bradley’s, after 62 years in the sawmill industry, decided to retire and approached Blue Ridge Lumber about taking over their operation. After careful review we concluded that this would be another excellent opportunity to expand our procurement area and our lumber inventory.
The Covington Mill runs a HMC double cut band saw and gang edger with future plans to install a re-saw. The hardwood species sawn are Red Oak, White Oak, Poplar, Ash, Basswood, Cherry, Hickory, Walnut and Hard and Soft Maple. The green lumber that is produced by the Covington Mill is graded and sorted for sale and shipment or transferred to our Bells Valley or Fishersville yards for kiln drying.
We encourage the local Covington community to consider us for their double ground mulch and sawdust needs as well as fencing boards and rough sawn green lumber special cut orders.
